The Centre for Family Equity has been tirelessly advocating for free transit for teens to address mobility poverty among youth and affordability for families in every transit system across the province. We have a vision for an inclusive and safe public transit system that doesn't include policing and crackdowns.
With TransLink and the Mayor’s Council calling for a new funding model and $600 million to maintain basic services, now is the time for families and youth to let policymakers know that a fully public system is possible. Read the arguments for a transit system that looks beyond reliance on the fare box and policing-based surveillance approach towards a model that sees public transit as an essential public service.
