I've been at the same job for almost 16 years...Last year I did apply for another job internally which I really wanted, and I got offered the job...But then even within my organization, the new position would not accommodate my child care pickup, which I had to do because of COVID - they shortened their hours. So, I had to in the end turn down the job...That was the first sort of ‘this is what being a single mom is going to be like’ moment. They wouldn’t let me change my schedule by half an hour.
