K-12 Without Racism Focus Groups Open

February 23, 2026

We are very excited to announce that the next phase of our Kindergarten to Grade 12 Without Racism: Families Lead the Way project will be a series of focus groups on racism in schools and accountability for racism in schools.

We will be hosting at least 10 online and in-person focus groups over the next few months. Focus groups participants will be compensated $100 for their time. Please let us know your child care needs when you fill in our form.

Complete a brief 2-minute Expression of Interest form:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K12FocusGroups

This opportunity is open to all Indigenous and racialized caregivers to children and/or youth currently in the K-12 public school system across regions of BC and who have concerns about racism in the school system.

Spaces are limited and will be filled on a rolling basis. For the March in-person focus groups, the last day to apply is March 2, 2026. All confirmed participants will receive more details on the focus groups via email. The CFE reserves the right to select participants who meet the participation criteria and reflect a diversity of impacted parents. Filling in the expression of interest form does not guarantee a spot.

The expression of interest form is open to all CFE members and the public who qualify. Share widely with your friends, family, school, and community networks!

"Kindergarten to Grade 12 Without Racism” is CFE's parent and caregiver-led project to address systemic racism in multiple areas of BC’s public education system. In year 1, we heard from 104 Indigenous and racialized parents across BC through a survey. You can see our Survey Findings report here.

In our next phase of the project, focus groups will engage families across the province to share experiences and gather data on the impact of racism in schools.

When our children and families face racism in the school system, they are unable to flourish, learn, play, and thrive. This needs to end. Our work will mobilize evidence-based, parent-led policy and legislative change to transform BC’s School Act and BC’s Anti-Racism Act to ensure every child and youth can learn in an environment free from the harm of racism.

We invite anyone with lived experience of racism in the school system in BC to join us in this important work to end racism in BC’s public schools: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/K12FocusGroups
