Have your say on family law legal aid in BC

May 28, 2026

Have you accessed Legal Aid BC's new Family Law Centres and/or the expanded 25 service hours since 2025? The Centre for Family Equity is inviting you to share your experience.

Family law legal aid can be a lifeline — but for many survivors of family violence in BC, accessing it is only part of the journey. Services need to meet the real needs of the people who use them. What happens when the system falls short? What works, and what needs to change? That's what we want to understand — and we need your help to find out.

Launching our online community engagement

Along with CFE staff members who will carry out the engagements, our team of Parent Connectors — who all have lived experience of family violence, BC's family law system, and the barriers that survivors face — have helped shape this engagement of one-on-one engagements and small group discussions with participants across the province. The insights we gather will directly shape our recommendations on how to improve family law legal aid services for survivors across BC.

This engagement is part of Legal Aid Lifeline, our three-year initiative to ensure that survivors of family violence across BC have access to quality family law legal aid.
