School Boards Pass Transit for Teens Motions

NEW WESTMINSTER, BC; unceded territories - This week the Vancouver and New Westminster School Boards passed motions calling on the province to extend free transit up to age 18.

On January 31, 2023 the Vancouver School Board unanimously passed an advocacy motion is support of the campaign brought by Trustees Jennifer Reddy, Janet Fraser and Susie Mah. The next Day, February 1, the New Westminster School Board also unanimously passed a similar motion brought forward by Trustee Danielle Connolly. 

These two motions are the first from public bodies to endorse the Transit for Teens campaign launched by the Centre for Family Equity (formerly the Single Mothers' Alliance) with a recommendation letter to government issued on January 6, 2023.
