About us
The Centre for Family Equity, formerly known as the Single Mothers’ Alliance, addresses family poverty in BC through research, policy recommendations, legal action, and targeted programs. Our intersectional equity approach considers how families experience systemic discrimination and socioeconomic inequality based on their social identities in our unequal society. We work to address human rights violations and create solutions that meet the real and evolving needs of families based on their lived experience. Driven by our community-based organizing model and active member network, we determine our strategic priorities based on community engagement to create a BC where all families thrive.
